  • Part of the process of writing this album included an impossible imagined correspondence. I wrote and sent letter and parcels from one part of myself to another, and these became the foundations of the music on this record. In addition to a copy of the CD and a hand-painted key-shirt, I will send you a liberation letter and parcel which will include an object / item of clothing and an accompanying instruction for a ritual. You can choose one of 5 options: Male (Beorn), Female (Cwene), Tree (Sealh), Animal (Deor) or Liberation (Aka). I will source and personalise the object / clothing for you. You can leave this as a surprise, or we can correspond and work towards something more tailored to what you are seeking.

What does it mean to wear a dress? It’s simply fabric, cut and sewn into a shape, designed to be worn on the human body. It is a texture and colour to step inside, like beam of coloured light. I think of this dress as a ceremonial and journeying object that has been raised out of the realm of spirit, imagination and dream - a song of liberation. It doesn’t make a statement about my gender or sexuality, it simply offers a different shape, posture and sensation on the skin, an alternate aurora. I can decide what it signifies for me based on how it makes me feel, and others can decide what it symbolises for them. It encourages and allows me to move, perceive and experience myself in a new way: to play.

Cwene is the Old English word for Woman / Female
