Reiki flute is a method devised by Mikey Kirkpatrick (aka Bird Radio) that brings together nearly 30 years of flute and reiki practice. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes and has a different daily focus such as symbols, nature, the elements or chakras. The sessions are improvised and broadcast live on air via Wild Lakes Radio (using the Mixlr platform) daily at 10am everyday. This project began on 29th March 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdown. Every week a new volume will be published, free to stream, but also available to download. Purchases help to support the continuation of the reiki flute sessions.

You can listen while doing something else, or use the sessions to complement your own practice such as meditation, yoga, movement, creativity, or anything else that feels right for you.

This volume focuses on water in its many states and forms, from ylem (primordial matter of the universe) through cloud, rain, snow and lake, and finally the source of a river pushing its way through the land, and finally the ocean. Water can be both calming and energising - it is associated with the sacral chakra and could symbolise fluidity and expression of self. These reiki sessions / improvisations have led me into many different and new rhythmic and melodic shapes, some visual (responding to colour or movement of water), some imitating energy (pressure and release of a stormcloud), while others focus on the fast moving atoms and molecules, shifting between gas and liquid, right through to the meandering power of a river and the push and pull of ocean waves. As always, with the flute, as with life, I concentrate on the inhale and exhale of breath, and the shared ancient knowledge that we carry within us.

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th Century and is used worldwide to reduce tension.
